Joseph Wangai
Chairman
Mr. Wangai is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya with extensive experience in provision of auditing, accounting and business advisory services acquired during his 34 years with two of the big 4 professional services firms, Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Masters in Business Administration Degree, both from University of Nairobi.
Mr. Wangai retired from Deloitte East Africa in 2018 after serving the firm for 21 years as a partner. His key leadership roles at Deloitte included 15 years as the leader of the Audit and Assurance Business unit.

Catherine holds a first class honours Bachelor of Education (Science) degree from Kenyatta University and is an ACIl holder. She has also undergone various Management training both locally and abroad. Catherine has also received recognition in various fora and media both locally and regionally on her leadership focusing on transformation impact, trail blazing achievements and positive influence on businesses and teams. In addition, she has contributed to the profession through participation in the AKI Life Council and Board as well as on other industry bodies. Catherine brings over 25 years’ experience in life insurance to the role and has held senior leadership positions at Jubilee Insurance, Kenyan Alliance and most recently at APA Life where she was the Chief Executive Officer.

Philip Lopokoiyit
CEO
Mr. Philip Lopokoiyit is the CEO of ICEA LION Group, based in Nairobi, Kenya. He was previously the CEO of ICEA LION General Insurance company having joined the Group in September 2021. He has a wealth of experience in Finance, Risk Management and Corporate Governance, having worked for over 20 years in various senior management capacities in multinational companies. Philip holds a BCom from the University of Nairobi and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. He also holds other accounting qualifications being a member of the Chartered Management Accountants and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. He holds an MBA degree from Warwick Business School, UK. Philip is currently the Chair of the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance (NDSI). He is also a Non-Executive Director of NCBA Bank.
